The Consolations of Philosophy by Alain De Botton

Artwork by Alba Marcela Britez Cordoba

Take your chair, take your thoughts, console your philosophy

The chair will represent our thoughts, our way of seeing life, our philosophy. The graphic reference to Enzo Mari's self-projected chair wants to show the idea of a philosophy built by ourselves with unequal parts of thoughts. A chair that is not compatible with the iconic and familiar language of "chair" but in its essentiality, a chair: a presence, absence, expectation, integral part or not of an idea, an insightful construction, a primary essence. Epicurus, Schopenhauer, Seneca, Socrates, Nietzsche and Montaigne console us, or we find consolation.
