The Call of Cthulhu and Dagon by H.P. Lovecraft
These drawings are inspired by the mythological universe by H. P. Lovecraft, in particular by the short stories The Call of Cthulhu and Dagon. Both of the stories are narrated in first person by the protagonists, who investigated the unknown in too deep and experienced terrible encounters with ancient mythological creatures, namely Cthulhu and Dagon; even if they managed to escape and tell the story, they are endly driven into madness by the overwhelming cosmic horrors that populate the universe, a recurrent topos in Lovecraft mythology.
I tried to render the process of madness by irregular lines and dark, expressive tints; the drawing of the scream is inspired by William Blake's engravings.
