Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

Fahrenheit 451 is part of the dystopian novel, alongside with Orwell “1984” and Huxley “Brave new world”, it depicts a future society where a dictatorship forbids the development of one’s own ideas burning all the books. In this novel, as well asin Orwell’s one, a fundamental role is played by the pervasive mass media that controls and influence the citizens. Upon this totalitarian holding of power that technology has and its capacity of influencian people will, I decided to create the collage.
The pictures used as based were taken during Chilean massive protest in October 2019, where demonstrators exhorted the shut down of the TV, which is private and controlled by the state and perceived as misleading, asking the public to open their eyes to the truth and not a fabrication of reality by the media. Both the book and the protest underline the importance of developing a critical thought, search of sources of truth and how knowledge is a powerful weapon to protect a universal right for freedom.

First picture caption
“An hour of TV class, an hour of basketball or baseball or running, another hour of historical transcripts  or pretty pictures...and more sports, but do you know, broadcasters never ask questions, or at least most don't; they just run answers by you.”

Second picture caption
“If you don't want a man unhappy politically, don't give him two sides to a question to worry him; give him one.”

 Third picture caption
“Remember, the firemen are rarely necessary. The public itself stopped reading of its own accord.”
